If you are anything like me, you desire to have a beautiful home like the ones you see in the magazines but don’t necessarily have the funds to purchase these gorgeous finds. If I see something (most things) that I just love but the price tag is like “umm yeah” I immediately think to myself I can make that, and I whip out my phone or take a screen shot and it goes into my inspiration to do folder. Now with the holiday’s around the corner it’s the perfect time for me to get my house in order and do all those things that I have been intending to do for months, well maybe not all but I am pulling out some of those projects from the list of to do’s.
I love browsing around Pottery Barn, Kirkland, Ikea, Wayfair you name it I’m either window or online shopping looking. Here are some gorgeous yet super thrifty hacks that I found that will instantly add a chic, luxurious look to your home that even the least crafty person can do with very little effort.
Pottery Barn Tuscan Terra Cotta Vases ($29.50 -$99 apiece)

These beauties were simple, easy and really don’t require purchasing much if anything that is if you are a craft supply hoarder like me. I simple used vases that I already had in my home that were just sitting around waiting to be used but you can purchase super cheap vases from $1.00 - $10.00 at dollar tree, Walmart or even the thrift store to use for this project.
I used white and ivory spray paint that I had from a previous project and I purchased a copper/gold metallic acrylic paint from my local craft store for about $2.00. I spray painted the top half of each vase with the white spray paint and then after about 30 minutes I sprayed over it with the ivory paint. Now my paint job is a little splotchy seeing that I did not start with a full can of spray paint, but I still love it. The next step is to just paint over the bottom half with the gold paint. It does not have to be perfect in the least bit the more jagged the line the better. I then simply took my paint brush and added gold spots in random places on the vase in random sizes. Let it dry and voila you have beautiful new vases that look like you spent a ton, now just set them up in your home and enjoy.

Sculpture Spheres

I’ve had my eyes on these babies for some time now, I’ve even placed it in my cart a few times while out shopping and then put it back and yep you guessed it said I can make this. But these little beauties can be found at www.wayfair.com and www.westelm.com. If you want a more cost friendly version, you can just diy. Now upon looking for different ways to pull off this hack I came up with different options. The crafts stores sales these metal rings in the same aisle you find embroidery hoops although I have no idea what they are for they are an option but after looking through Pinterest I came across someone that used embroidery hoops and seeing that I already had them at home from other projects (see post for different way to use embroidery hoops) that was the easiest way to go for me and it turned out perfect.
DIY Wooden Sculpture Sphere

You will need to wooden hoops of the same size they have different size options for you to pick from. Start by taking apart the hoops they come with an outer and inner hoop, I apologize as I often do I get so caught up in the process I forget to take step by step photos of the project, but you can still get the gist from the stock photos below of what the hoop looks like. I then used Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to paint 2 rings and I stained the other 2 with Dark Walnut stain for contrast although there was no significate difference in the appearance once they dried at least to me so save a step and just do one or the other I had both in my supplies but don’t feel the need to purchase both there is really no need.

Once they dry it’s time to assemble, take the 2 inner rings and insert one inside the other

Then take one outer hoop and put it over the 2 inner hoops and tighten the hoops hardware to lock it in place,

Next take the last outer hoop and place it over the other 3 hoops and tighten it until locked in place. That is it, you are done, just put it on display.

How did your projects turn out. share your pictures with me, I cant wait to see them.
